On July 5, Joel LaBuda and Rudy completed an almost year long journey together when Rudy became an AKC Champion with his owner, Joel, as his exclusive handler.
Their journey began last fall when Rudy won a very prestigious 5 point Major at the Potomac Valley Standard Schnauzer Club’s annual Specialty held as part of our local Warrenton Kennel Club Show. After that, Joel and Georjeans worked to keep Rudy’s coat in show condition for regular show appearances culminating in his Championship performance last month.

Joel and Rudy live in Manassas. Rudy was bred here in Warrenton by Halcyon Standard Schnauzers. They are continuing their dog show adventures this year as Rudy gains points and recognition toward his Grand Championship.
Dog show handling is very challenging, especially for an amateur competing against seasoned and professional handlers. Trust, commitment and dedication between dog and owner are essential. I really do love seeing relationships between dogs and their owners deepen and strengthen, and I am honored to have been able to play a part in coaching and training this winning team!
